Meet the Senior Management Team
Dr. Tongtong Zhu
CEO & Founder
Tongtong serves as CEO & Founder and leads technology development and business operations through his vision to champion MicroLED innovations to the global market adoption. Tongtong has a PhD in Materials Science from Cambridge University, a diverse background of physics, electronics, engineering and materials science, 15+ years’ experience in the field of III-nitride semiconductor materials and devices, and has developed numerous new materials and structure production processes whilst progressing the general community understanding of the science of materials growth.
Prof. Rachel Oliver FREng FIMMM
CSO & Co-Founder
Rachel is a Professor in Materials Science at the Department of Materials Science, University of Cambridge and a fellow of Robinson College, Cambridge. She is also the Director of the Cambridge Centre for Gallium Nitride (GaN). She has led several EPSRC and ERC grants including large international collaborations and industry-funded projects. She is a member of the UKNC management committee and the Internal Strategy Committee of the National III-V Centre. Rachel has been named one of the Top 50 Women in Engineering 2020 and being recognised for her work on sustainable lighting based on nitride light emitting diodes (LEDs).
Dr. Yingjun Liu
CTO & Co-Founder
Yingjun was trained as a physical chemist and mechanical engineer, with a PhD in Materials Science. He has more than 15 years experience on advanced materials development projects with world leading materials companies, emerging SMEs and top research institutes. His career started from OLED, and during the time in Cambridge organised technology transfer projects on scale-up processes to industrial partners. He has been involved in development of high throughput inspection and fabrication methodology throughout his career.
Dr. Kunal Kashyap
VP Display & Head of Taiwan
Kunal has a PhD in Nanotechnology and joins the company with many years of product development and project management experience on Mini- and Micro-LEDs, Displays and III-V sensors at EPISTAR (one of the world’s largest LED manufacturers).
Dr. Dandan Zhu
VP Engineering
Dandan has >15 years of experience in GaN materials and devices and a proven track record in commercial exploitation of innovative technologies that spanned R&D, engineering, sales and marketing. Dandan holds both BE and MS from Tsinghua University, and a PhD in Materials Science from the University of Cambridge. She developed the large-scale GaN-on-Si technology and co-founded CamGaN with Professor Sir Colin Humphreys – Founding Director of the Cambridge Centre for GaN, which was acquired by Plessey Semiconductors in 2012.
Dr. Edward Buckley
VP System Engineering
Dr. Edward Buckley is a recognised display expert, having taken a number of novel display technologies from the lab bench to production, accumulating more than 50 granted patents. He has served in technology leadership roles at Meta, Eink, Pixtronix (acquired by Qualcomm), and Light Blue Optics. Edward has a PhD from Cambridge University and is a senior member of the IEEE, SPIE and SID.
